SPOTLIGHT ON JEFF ROY, FENIX SIGNALLING’S NEW LEAD PRINCIPLES ENGINEER

  • Fenix Signalling has appointed Jeff Roy as its new lead principles engineer after the Scotsman spent the past year working for the company as a contractor.

  • The 38-year-old from Glasgow brings a wealth of experience to the professional engineering consultancy, having spent more than 20 years in the rail industry.

  • Jeff will be primarily responsible for verifying design, CRE duties, and supporting the design management of a wide range of projects.

  • On joining Fenix, Jeff said: “I’m delighted to be taking on a full-time position with the company and look forward to using my knowledge and experience to make a positive impact within the business.

  • Fenix Signalling recently delivered the first part of a major radio electronic token block upgrade project in the West Highlands of Scotland.

  • The company was also called in at short notice to provide a design for the M73/M74 Motorway Improvement Project in Jeff’s home country, where the team identified and resolved a number of deficiencies before producing the design, allowing the work to go ahead.

  • Jeff joins Fenix after more than six years spent contracting with railway companies. And this principle engineer chose the company, fittingly, for its principles.

  • “I wanted to join Fenix because they were looking at breaking the norm, doing things differently.

  • “It is a small, close-knit family-type organisation. It is very personal. You want to work not for yourself but for the whole of Fenix, and everybody wants to do likewise. It’s a growing organisation, which is good for me.

  • Craig Purcell, Managing Director of Fenix Signalling, said: “We are pleased to be welcoming Jeff as the latest addition to the growing Fenix team. His appointment is evidence of our impressive growth this year and he brings the key skills and experience needed to further develop our turnkey Signalling Design and Implementation service and bring our offering to the forefront of the industry.”
